Independent garage, Oakdene Autos came out top in a recent BBC investigative TV series “Are we being served?” for being a reputable garage and for having a vehicle service checklist. Oakdene Autos in Laindon, Essex is a member of the good garage scheme and ranked amongst some of Britain ’s best garages.
Part of being a good garage scheme member is to work to a structured service checklist, which placed the garage in high esteem with TV reporter, Arkin Salih, who took a vehicle into the garage to test out the garage’s customer service. Oakdene Autos came out ahead of two other
garage’s who were all picked at random in an attempt by the programme makers to try and lift the lid of what’s going wrong with customer service at some garages. Discovering problems with mechanics and garages ranked in the ‘top five of pet hates’ in the programme’s online survey. So, watchdog presenters, Julia Bradbury and Arkin Salih went to investigate, much
to the delight of Oakdene Autos garage owner, Joe Hodgetts. “I was away on holiday at the time of the investigation, but my mechanics and staff worked to the good garage scheme’s strict guidelines, and I am delighted to say we received a good customer service report from the BBC series,” he commented. Good Garage Scheme marketing manager, Rachel
Roberts, said; “The scheme was launched to help good, independent garages promote themselves as offering high standards of workmanship with value for money prices. Oakdene Autos is one of over 800 garages who have joined the scheme so far.”
She added: “ The Scheme is designed to make it a lot easier to point drivers in the direction of a good garage if they are unsure where to take their car for servicing. There are many good garages out there who are already gaining additional business through the initiative.”
